There’s a lot of that going on in our region too. Out with the old and in with the new. Both have their beauty, but there’s something sad about losing the old. Of course if the old have their pockets filled with money from selling, I guess it’s not so sad for them.
It’s a way of life that’s changing, isn’t it? I mean look at the size of that new house compared with the old. I can’t help thinking those old walls were rich with a whole different set of values. [sigh]
Great shot. The changes that stately old tree has seen, hmm? If he had a head, he’d be shaking it. As always, you’ve captured with your camera what many would miss, Carin.
My favourite day of the week!
And here’s my favourite guest!

We have a HUGE tree in our back yard being removed right now because it died and we’re afraid it’ll be a danger to the kids. I loved that tree.
So easy to get attached to trees. My condolences on your recent loss. :\
Probably wise to be safe though.
Wow. It doesn’t need words. The picture speaks volumes. Nice image.
Thanks, Diane!
Such an interesting photo.
Thank you. Makes me wonder how long before it’ll be less so. Take away the old house and what do you have?
Very poignant, and a beautiful composition!
Thank you, Elizabeth. And welcome!
That’s quite a contrast between ‘was’ and ‘is’ … great capture, Carin!
I prefer the ‘was’ in this case. The ‘is’ looks like too much cleaning. (;
I’m with you … I hate housework, but I whined and sniveled about that somewhere else on this blog …

I often think just that: what those big old trees ‘have seen’…
Thanks, Allyson.
The starkness of winter… ready for some snow! But a beautiful picture nonetheless.
